We sat down with Mr. Riley to find out more about our principal here at South Grade Elementary. After the interview was over, Mr. Riley asked us to think about how we can make the world a better place. What do we care about? What can we do to help others? This is what we discovered from our interview!
What is it like to be the principal at South Grade?
It takes a lot of responsibility. There are more than 800 students here!
What was your favorite subject in school?
Writing! When I was in 10th Grade my teacher sent my writing in to be published without me knowing. One day I came into class and he put a book on my desk and told me to open the page. It was my writing! It made me feel like I was a good writer. I went to college to study journalism.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to go to the gym to stay healthy. I use to run half marathons. I also like to spend time with my dog, Kyle.
What is your favorite sport?
Baseball! I like the Detroit Tigers. My favorite player is Miquel Cabrera
Do you have any pets?
I have a two year old dog named Kyle. He is a Shih Tzu. We adopted him because he has health problems. He is a rescue dog with special needs.
What is your favorite genre to read?
I like to read informational text on topics like running and education. I also like to read the classics. Reading is important! It helps you to become an expert on what you are reading about.
